About The Author

David Wickward is a preacher, poet, and writer from Durham, North Carolina. Born with thrombocytopenia-absent radius (TAR) syndrome, he has carried both frailty and resilience in his own body—a story that fuels his compassion and anchors his conviction that only Jesus can make us whole. In high school, David committed his life to Christ and sensed a call not only to preach the gospel but to put words around the ache and hope of the human soul.

After earning a B.S. in Religious Studies (New Testament) from Liberty University in 2022, David has continued to explore the meeting place of theology and creativity.

Most days you’ll find him tucked into a coffee shop with a pour-over, crate-digging for vinyl, or scribbling lines of poetry between sermons and Bible lectures. He writes regularly at From the Desk of David, where faith, art, and everyday life intersect in pursuit of one simple aim: to point weary hearts to the One who made them.

I’m David

Welcome to this small, quiet corner of the internet. Think of it like a coffee shop table where words, Scripture, and vinyl crackle in the background. I’m not here as someone who has it all together—just a fellow traveler pointing toward the bread of life.

What you’ll find here are fragments: poems, reflections, and essays stitched together from the ache of our brokenness and the hope of a Savior who makes us whole. It’s part journal, part prayer, part playlist for weary souls.

So linger a while. Read slowly. My prayer is that every line I write nudges you beyond me and toward the One who created you—and still whispers grace into all our restless hearts.
